Abstract:
To create the Biodiversity Values Database (BVD) Threatened Fauna and Flora, Natural Values Atlas (NVA) Feature Observation Points were processed as follows:Application of a search envelope to limit records with at least 1km buffer from Tasmania's coast.Selection of all fauna and flora species which are attributed as threatened, or which species names could not be identified, but belong to a genus that only contains threatened species in Tasmania. Application of additional filters to fauna species records:Removal of extinct species recordsRemoval of absent audibles, captures and sightings observation typesRemoval of not detected and not recorded observation typesJoin of remaining records with the BVD Lookup table and application of corresponding filters.These filters intend to exclude observations for:Marine speciesSeabirdsShorebirdsWetland speciesVagrant speciesMigratory species which do not breed in TasmaniaSpecies which occur entirely within reservesSpecies that don’t require management for other reasonsCertain observation types, sometimes in combination with certain observation states, which don’t require management.For a detailed user limitation description of the Natural Values Atlas (NVA) Feature Observation Points source data, please refer to the ENV.NVA_FEATURE_OBSERVATION_POINTS feature class metadata.
